Celtuce from Canara Farm

This week saw the arrival of two fantastic Canara Farm products: First was our very own branded boxes. Second are far more interesting was the first box of Celtuce. Celtuce is also know as Celery Lettuce, Stem Lettuce, Chinese Stem Lettuce or Asparagus Lettuce (or Wosun in China where is originates) as the name suggests it is a type of lettuc, however you eat the stem not the leaves. Celtuce has a crisp and crunchy texture with a mild flavour, usually Celtuce is stir-fried with meat,poultry or fish . Cornish Melons coming soon!

One of the biggest surprises to come from the last trip to Canara Farm was the first appearance of some early fruit on our Charentais Melon plants. The Charentais melon is similar in flesh to cantaloupes, but with a more fragrant smell. Elsewhere in the tunnels at Canara we have also seen our pepper plants are growing really well and should be available for a harvest soon.
