The Great Taste Awards have been running since 1994 and have become an industry recognised benchmark in excellence amongst providers of speciality food and drink. Every year a panel of judges (consisting of top chefs, food writers, restaurateurs & food experts) test/taste hundreds of products and score them accordingly. Each successful product is given one of the following awards: Three Star : Exquisite Two Star : Outstanding One Star : Simply Delicious Put simply if you see a product with the Great Taste badge it is going to taste fantastic. Lomo 3 Star Lomo is made from the Loin muscle, usually associated with back bacon. Dry cured in a mixture of salts and spices, stuffed into natural casings and slowly air dried.    Coppa 2 Star The Coppa joint runs through the shoulder from the base of the neck to the top of the loin. Made from Cornish Pork shoulder, slowly dry cured in a blend of salts and spices, coated in pepper spice mix, stuffed into natural casings and slowly air dried. English Apples

As the English apple season gets going we have some fantastic varieties of apple arriving in our fridges. Today we have: Russets – The skin of this apple is entirely covered with “russet”, which has a texture like fine sandpaper, the taste of the Russet is a good balance between sweet & sharp. Discovery – One of the more popular early season English apples with the interesting characteristic that the red colour from the flesh will often bleed slightly into the flesh. Charles Ross – Charles Ross a classic late-Victorian English apples can be used as a desert or cooking apple, the taste will be quite sharp at the beginning of the season but will sweeten up. The Flesh in the early season is rather juicy and develops a more powdery texture as the apple matures. Cox – Another classic English Apple, considered by many to be one of the finest desert apples.
