This afternoon it was a pleasant surprise to have Pete visit us from Canara Farm with him he was bringing the first crop of Mashua Flowers. As you can see from the picture they are a beautiful looking flower with vibrant orange petals, these edible flowers have sweet nectar and would the perfect addition to desserts. With the appearance of these flowers we are now looking forward to the harvesting of the Mashua Tubers in mid-November. Like everything from Canara Farm these awesome flowers are 100% organic. Forest Fungi are a Devon based family business that focuses mainly on producing Shiitake Mushrooms for the catering trade they also produce a great selection of gourmet mushrooms and seasonally available wild (foraged) mushrooms. Canara Farm – Autumn/Winter Crops

As the seasons change so do the crop that we will be harvesting from Canara Farm, this does unfortunately mean that Lizard Leaf production will soon be finished but we will be have a supply of a variety autumn/winter crops available over the next few weeks. Pete has also tried some test plantings of various vegetables the first of which are beautiful mixed boxes of Northern Lights Cabbages (pictured above), after a test steam of around ten minutes both maintained their colour. As this was a test planting we only have a small quantity but if there is a high demand we will look at growing more.
