cornishfoodmarket.co.uk is Cornwall’s premier retail food home delivery service and it’s really, really simple:-
- We source superb fresh seasonal food from local growers and producers because quality and provenance mean everything to us.
- We charge a fair price so you get a great deal, we pay a fair price so our suppliers get a great deal and we try to keep as much money as possible in the local community.
- We add the most popular big brands that everybody needs so that you can do all your shopping at one place.
- We’ve made ordering unbelievably straightforward - once you have set up an account you are only ever one click away from placing an order.
- We plan very carefully to reduce food miles, reduce packaging and reduce waste but without ever forgetting that shopping for food should be a pleasure not an ethical minefield.
- Our customer service is second to none. We grew up looking after chefs – the most demanding customers known to man - and we’ve built the biggest food service business in Cornwall - so we think we must being doing something right.
- Finally - it’s cost effective, we offer great value products at prices that compete with the big supermarkets and with a low minimum order value we can still bring your shopping to you with no delivery charge to the majority of Cornwall and a very reasonable delivery charge to all other areas of England and Wales.
Try it out!
Simple to use, an amazing choice of fresh local produce, plus all the other bits and pieces you need for a weekly shop - cornishfoodmarket.co.uk is the easiest way to access great quality food and support local farmers and growers.
We have set cornishfoodmarket.co.uk up to offer a viable local alternative to the home delivery services provided by the major supermarkets. We have all the usual categories of foodstuffs you would expect plus a range of household products like washing powder and dishwasher tablets and personal care items such as shampoo and deodorant. The local bit is important because wherever possible we use local suppliers (by local we mean Cornwall and West Devon) and this has a number of huge benefits to both our economy and our environment. It keeps money circulating around our area rather than letting it leak away (we call it ‘Leaky Bucket Theory’) - see the panel on the right for more.
Where’s it from?
All of our products are sourced locally where possible because we believe that sourcing local products from local farmers and suppliers is the right thing to do.
Our fresh fish is caught by Cornish boats working out of Newlyn, St. Ives, Padstow, Fowey and Looe. Matthew Stevens & Son, based in St Ives, fillet the fish to order and pack it overnight to be delivered to homes within twenty four hours of being caught. All of our meat is Cornish, our butcher R J Trevarthen’s supply many of the County’s finest restaurants, they also cut and pack everything fresh to order overnight. Our salad bags are bagged and grown for us by Lizard Leaves at their new farm on Mylor Down. Our bread is baked by three great Cornish craft bakers; BakerTom and Vicky’s for organic bread and continental loaves and Berrymans for daily bread, saffron cake and pastries. We’re highlighting the best of what Cornwall has to offer and bringing it straight to your front door!
Leaky Bucket Theory…
Basically, much more of the money you spend with us stays within our community. We use almost 100 local suppliers for a massive range of fresh produce including many of our fruit and vegetables, all of our meat, all of our fish, all of our bakery goods and a large proportion of our dairy produce. Even larder items like coffee, cook-in sauces, rice, sugar, herbs, spices and salt are either produced in Cornwall or come from Cornish wholesalers.
In addition, when we call a plumber or buy a new PC or even make a substantial investment in a new website, we use a local company - again, all of the money stays in Cornwall.
When our plumber goes out to the pub, or the design company entertain clients, they use a Cornish venue that almost always buys fresh produce from our wholesale business. This keeps the money circulating around the County and stops it escaping through the holes in the ‘leaky bucket’.
