Ginger Mexican – Cornish made Mexican Salsa

The Ginger Mexican (or Dan to his friends) is the latest artisan Cornish producer to be added to the Plough to Plate Range. This range of salsa was inspired by the fresh fish and delicious local food he enjoyed whilst travelling and surfing in Mexico.

Dan believes that he has created an authentic range of flavours that create both the vibrancy and passion that he experienced in Mexico.

Until now The Ginger Mexican’s salsa range were only available from farm shops and local food markets, now with the help of Plough to Plate and Westcountry we hope to make this superb product available to those with a love of Salsa or Mexican food throughout Cornwall and Devon.

To create this authentic salsa Dan uses only the freshest ingredients he can source, these include: tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, yellow pepper, cumin, garlic, chilli flakes, lime, honey, fresh coriander and a pinch of salt and pepper.

One of the distinct aspects of this great local product is that the flavours of each ingredient come through and you are able to taste the wonderful flavour combinations with every mouthful.

This new range is available in the following varieties:

  • Hot & Tasty
  • Flaming Hot and Tasty
  • The salsas are available in 275g jars or a 1kg catering tub.

    Cooking with The Ginger Mexican.

    The Ginger Mexican Tasty Salsa’s are extremely versatile. The layered flavours can be enjoyed with with a crisp or cracker. However, this fantastic salsa is a great enhancement for any meal or snack. Here are three delicious serving ideas:

    The Ginger Mexican Nachos.
    Grab two hand-fulls of lightly salted tortillas chips and place on a plate.
    Add a ladle of heated chilli con carne.
    Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the top.
    Stack on a salad of lettuce mixed with a bit of what you like.
    Place on top two generous table spoons of The Ginger Mexican Tasty Salsa.
    Finish with a spoon of soured cream.

    The Ginger Mexican Burrito Sauce.
    Empty The Ginger Mexican Tasty Salsa in a bowl.
    Add 2 table spoons of creme fresh and mix.
    Creme fresh can be substituted for soured cream, single cream or double cream.

    The Ginger Mexican Burritos
    Fill tortillas with hot chilli con carne or filling of your choice.
    You can also add rice and cheese.
    Fold the tortillas and place the Burrito fold down on baking tray.
    Brush with olive oil, add cheese and the burrito sauce.
    Bake for 10 mins at 200 degrees or Gas Mark 7.
    Serve with salad, The Ginger Mexican Tasty Salsa and Creme fresh.
