After the glorious Bank Holiday we were asked by one of our growers in Splattenridden near Lelant to come and collect the first crop of Cornish Asparagus and Cornish Rhubarb.
The Cornish & English Asparagus typically runs from May 1st and lasts around 7-8 weeks but the favourable weather conditions have enabled us to get this early crop. Growing conditions must be good this year as the Asparagus has appeared two weeks earlier than last year when collected our first crop on April 24th.
As this is a very early crop supply will be limited and demand will be high so please follow us on Twitter to keep up to date with availability. We love to see how the produce we supply is being used so if you use either the Asparagus or Rhubarb please tag us in your pictures and we will share them with our followers.
Whilst we are on the subject of Cornish produce we will soon (early May) be cropping the following from Canara Farm:
Lizard Leaves
Mixed Colour French Beans
Broad Beans
