Padstow Kitchen Garden produce a magnificent selection of fresh produce. We are once again delighted to be working with Ross Geach, head grower at Padstow Kitchen Garden. Ross’s experience as a chef working in various positions at many of Rick Stein’s establishments in Padstow has given him a unique understanding of what chefs need in regards to texture, size, flavour and ease of preparation.
With his family working the land at Trethern Farm, Padstow for six generations coupled with his passion for food, Ross learnt how to work the land growing salad and vegetables in his spare time with help from his Grand-dad. Selling the surplus salad and herbs to chefs in the local area, Ross’s career as a grower began and he was able to build up Padstow Kitchen Garden with the support of Rick and Jill Stein as he also worked in the kitchen part time. Ross now supplies many venues in Padstow and the local area with his thriving business Padstow Kitchen Garden.
Padstow Kitchen Garden growing plans 2016.
From mid- March onwards, we will be able to supply the Padstow Kitchen Garden mixed salad bags. The 500g bags will have a mix of around 10 different leaves including mustards and lettuce although, the mix depends on the quantity and more importantly the quality of the different components available so can change on a daily basis. Ross will be cutting the mix up to 6 days a week starting in the morning (around 7am) to ensure optimum freshness.
When the first hints of spring are around, everyone gets excited about the marvellous selection of local produce available for new and exciting menus. However, it’s not really until May/June time, that Ross’s labour of love comes into fruition and we will start to see the full range of amazing, fresh produce available as all produce is grown naturally with the indoor crops grown without any artificial light or additional heat.
The selection of specially selected seasonal produce which we are delighted to offer as they become available includes:
