Artisan Christmas Selection from Plough to Plate
Through out the year our team at Plough to Plate strive to bring together a unique range of fantastic products from Cornwall and Devon. In December we make an extra effort to source some of the finest artisan Christmas products from our talented suppliers. This year we believe we have bought together a selection that is sure to bring the joy of the season to all our customers.
Christmas Cakes & Pies
The tradition of eating Mince Pies during the Christmas period can be traced back to the 13th century. While the recipes have changed over the years this seasonal treat has remained. This year Bodmin based Barnett Fare are producing a range of sumptuous Mince Pies. The team at Barnett Fare have created a beautiful mince pie using a fruity mince meat wrapped in short crust pastry. The family run bakery use no artificial colours or flavourings in their pies. These hand made mince pies are a perfect treat and may be too tasty to leave out for Santa on Christmas Eve.
Stolen cake is a firm Christmas favourite so we knew we needed to source the very best artisan Christmas delight. From the Simply Cornish Range we have traditional Stollen Cake with a Cornish twist. This indulgent cake is made using the finest cherries and marzipan and a top secret blend of spices it is bound to bring a smile to the face of everybody who eats it.
Simply Cornish have also produced a luscious brandy and stout laced Christmas Pudding following a traditional recipe using only the finest butter and dried fruits. We are sure this Cornish made pudding will be a delightful ending to everybody’s Christmas dinner.
Devon based Baked to Taste, pride themselves in producing the highest quality gluten, lactose and dairy free treats. They have produced a selection of sweet artisan Christmas treats, that are bound to please everyone. We have selected their delicious Christmas cake. It is packed with plump fruit that has been soaked in cranberry juice and a generous amount of brandy. This rich cake is covered with deep layers of marzipan and icing. Please remember that the last chance to order from any Baked to Taste product in time for Christmas is the week commencing December 14th.
Most people will enjoy a drink or two over the festive period, so why not treat yourself to a Westcountry produced tipple. Mulled Wine is a traditional Christmas drink, usually served warm. Polgoon have produced a Cornish mulled red wine with fantastic fruity flavours and aromatic spices. For those wishing to break from tradition slightly Polgoon also offer a delicious Cornish cider mulled with fruits and aromatic spices.
From the Old Nuclear Bunker on the Lizard Peninsula, Lizard Ales have brewed a limited edition artisan Christmas ale. Blizzard from the Lizard is a dark but hoppy ale with flavours of chocolatey malt and orangey hops. With an ABV of 5% and delightful wintery labeling this ale will add Christmas cheer to all who open a bottle. Please note there will be a very limited number made so to avoid disappointment please order early.
Stuffing and Spice.
St Austell based Nature Kitchen have some wonderful blends and seasonings that will add that extra touch to Christmas Lunch. Why not try their Turkey,Turkey, Turkey Spice Rub, made using carefully selected blend of spices we feel this will enhance the Turkey help to make this year’s Christmas Dinner even more memorable. Stuffing is a big part of any roast dinner and Nature Kitchen have produced a delicious Fruity Stuffing mix that packs a flavourful punch. Perfect for stuffing inside your duck, turkey or goose or accompanying your sprouts, carrots and potatoes.
Pasties and Pies.
The pasty is possibly the most treasured Cornish foods so why not enjoy one with a Christmas twist. Barnett Fare are producing a delectable Brie and Cranberry pasty. Chunk of Devon produce award winning pasties throughout the year, and just in time for Christmas they are offering a Turkey and Cranberry pasty with the added luxury of bacon and leek.
From the Chunk range we also recommend their sensational Christmas berry topped pies. Their rustic gourmet style pies are made using locally sourced meats wrapped in a rich buttery pastry and topped with generous servings of Christmas berries. They have three fantastic varieties:

Christmas is a time for indulgence, and we have some fantastic treats for those with a sweet tooth or looking to spoil someone special. The Kernow Confectionary company have been producing a range of hand made traditional and contemporary flavoured chocolate bars since 2005. The entire Christmas range has been wrapped in beautiful festive packaging. Kernow Confectory have a tantalizing selection of seasonal flavours including :
- Stolen bar, dark chocolate infused with a lovely marzipan tasting almond flavour, all lavishly topped by hand with raisins and natural orange jelly pieces.
